Sapphires are mined in many locations around the world.  For many years we have dealt with one cutter in Sri Lanka.  This is an island just off the southern tip of India. (formerly known as Ceylon).  Our supplier has 25 years experience at heat treating and is known for excellent cutting.  In the past all the rough our cutter worked with came from Sri Lanka.  Due to increased demand and decreased production of rough, he had to look elsewhere for material to work with.  Our supplier (along with many other companies) have purchased rough from the new deposits in Madagascar and other sources.  After treatment and cutting we cannot always distinguish the source.
All of our stones will be from our Sri Lanka sources unless we specify otherwise.
